A woman tried to commit suicide after murdering her two daughters at Chaumala VDC in Kailali.
According to District Police Office, Kailali, Rambha Nepali, 25, of the VDC killed her two minor daughters Bhumika, 4, and six-month-old Rashani Nepali on Saturday night. She had laced their food with poison.
Her neighbours informed the local police post after Rambha’s family did not get up on Sunday morning. Police personnel from the local police station reached the site to find three persons lying unconscious in one of the rooms. They were immediately rushed to hospital.
Rambha’s husband Suraj Nepali is said to be employed in India.
Bhumika and Rashani died during the course of treatment at Padma Hospital in Attariya yesterday afternoon. According the doctors, the minors could not be saved as the poison had already spread in their bodies. “We could have saved the children had they been brought to the hospital on time,” they said.
Rambha is receiving treatment at Seti Zonal Hospital in Dhangadi and is in a critical condition.
Police said Rambha might have mixed poison in the food they were having. However, the reason behind the poisoning is yet to be ascertained. Police said the mystery would be solved after Rambha regains consciousness.
